Jan 14 evening update

Not too much has changed with Dad's responsiveness tonight but he is slowly making some progress.  His ventilator settings were reduced due to an improvement in the capacity of the damaged lung.

They are still trying to wean him from the hydromorphone by using alternative drugs but he doesn't last long without indications of pain.

We all talked to Dad again tonight and Nancy read the sports section of the paper to him too.  Not much Detroit Tigers news with all of the Hoke coverage!

We want to say thanks to all of the doctors and nurses that have attended to Dad.  They have been informative, kind, responsive, professional and thoughtful, helping both Dad and us down this path of recovery.

So glad things are coming along. It must be so scary for you Karl to not know what's happening. Your kids have been by your side....you all are blessed to have one another.

You know when my dad fell out of his stand in September, he cracked his sternum, and a number of ribs both front and back. He still has pain issues - so its going to be a long slog for Karl. As long as we can see continual improvment, thats whats important.. Hang in their Karl et al.....
